Waterford — Phyllis Beebe Hartung, age 91, of 105
Niantic River Road, died Saturday morning, Feb. 7, 2004, at
the Lawrence and Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Niantic Nov. 2, 1912, the daughter of
Frank and Anna Stevens Beebe.
She married Arthur Hartung in St. Agnes Church on Aug.
19, 1935. He died on Feb. 7, 1983, exactly 21 years ago.
Mrs. Hartung had been employed as a waitress at both the
Lighthouse Inn and Mohegan Hotel, retiring in 1975.
She is survived by her two sons, Neil Hartung of
Waterford and Arthur Hartung of Puerto Rico; two brothers,
Robert Beebe of Canaan, Conn., and Neil Beebe of
Philadelphia, Pa.; a sister Doris Fratus of Niantic; four
grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by three sisters, Joyce Miller and
Lois Patterson and Elizabeth Bechard.
The funeral will assemble at 9:15 a.m. on Friday at the
Thomas L. Neilan & Sons East Lyme Funeral Home, 48 Grand
St., Niantic, and proceed to a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian
Burial in St. Agnes Church. Interment will be in Union
Cemetery after the Mass. Calling hours are Thursday from 6
tp 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
